Founder And Director
Usha Nayar is a veteran in ‘Early Years’ training and a specialist in early years education’. She always wanted to create a space where children in their formative stage get ample opportunities to explore and interact with the environment and learn by getting actively involved.
In November 2013 the dream started shaping. Her sister Asha Menon who too has long years of experience as a preschool teacher and a school manager was too happy to join the venture. On the way more like minded friends joined to help in developing the model and the journey began for the Kinderland-Play Group and Preschool. A qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience in teaching early years and special needs children in India and in Muscat.
Co-Founder & Principal
Asha Menon has a Bachelors Honours in Education. She is a kindergarten trained professional. A creative person by heart, she went on to pursue her jewellery designing course from Vogue Institute. She is a Kalamandalam student and has learnt classical dance for 19 years. She brings with her an artistic flair. Her enthusiasm with children and her love for music, dance and art and craft all come alive when she is at Kinderland.
Prior to her involvement at Kinderland, she has worked in the managerial level designing primary curriculum and handling administrative decisions for reputed organizations. She is a people person, and if she is not with children, she will always be seen working on aid making and designing materials for learning in children.
Ph.D. (Speech-Language Pathology)
Preeja Balan is a co-founder and director of the Octave Hearing and Speech Centre. She has vast experience working with children with a variety of speech and language disorders. She has associated with various inclusive education programs at preschool levels and trained families and teachers to partner effectively for improving learning outcomes in children with autism spectrum disorder.
Apart from her clinical work, she has co-authored handbooks published by Communicaids Innovation Pvt Ltd-Helping Children build language skills and Helping Teachers to include children with ASD in the Classroom. She has co-authored an article ‘Finding the ‘U’ in Autism’ which is released in the April 2023 edition of the Autism Parenting Magazine, a UK-based magazine. She is also one of the consulting editors of the TISS Journal of disability studies and Research.
